instant pot turkey chili

It’s cold and dreary outside which means one thing in our house…chili!

This turkey chili recipe is so easy and can be made in the Instant Pot for a quick meal, or can be made in the crockpot for a “throw and go” meal too!

MACROS: 44g c / 31g p / 5g f (per serving without toppings)

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil

  • 2 pounds ground turkey; I use 93% lean

  • 1 white onion finely diced

  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

  • 28 ounce can diced tomatoes (do not drain)

  • 3 8 ounce cans tomato sauce

  • 15 ounce can kidney beans (drained and rinsed)

  • 15 ounce can pinto beans (drained and rinsed)

  • 3/4 cup beef broth

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder

  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin

  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika

  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt

  • 3/4 teaspoon ground pepper

  • Assorted toppings such as shredded cheese, crackers, green onions and Greek yogurt

Directions:

  1. Turn your Instant Pot to sauté **. Add the olive oil to the pot. Add the ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking up the turkey with a spatula as you stir.

  2. Add the diced onion and cook for 3 more minutes.

  3. Add the garlic, tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cocoa powder, salt, pepper and beans to the pot.

  4. Turn the Instant Pot to the Chili/Beans setting and place the lid on the pot. Cook for 20 minutes. Release the pressure either manually or allow it to release naturally.

  5. Serve with assorted toppings.

**if you are making this in a crockpot, sauté your ground turkey and onions in a pan first, then add it to the crockpot along with everything else. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
